The Book of Kin N°1 / Digital Edition
The Book of Kin is our new community guidebook, in which we bring together and present kindred-spirited brands and makers, who share our values and love for thoughtful craftsmanship and beauty. Our aim (and passion) is to help foster a growing holistic and regenerative movement in the realm of clothing and textiles. It is the many wonderful slow brands that are at the heart of our work and that we love to see flourish.
In analogy with the theme of The Lissome N°3, Cosmic Commons, The Book of Kin loosely follows the seasons, taking inspiration from the universe – generating and cultivating life through a cyclical process of birth, growth, harvest and rest. Throughout these pages, you will find interviews and articles with designers, makers and activists from the slow (clothing) movement, who show us in tangible ways how things can be done differently – with integrity, love and care. And there is poetry and a beautiful photo essay by Leonie Sinden-David, which she created at Mên-an-Tol, a small formation of standing stones in Cornwall that she describes as follows: “Thought to be from the Bronze age, four thousand years ago, these four stones stand wise and weathered, holding within their tales and stories of years gone by. There is a magic about them, a connection to the celestial world.”
Featuring interviews with Oshadi Collective (on regenerative agriculture), Nina Conrad (on building localised sustainable leather supply chains), Teresa Ari (Peruvian knitting) and Tash English of Avant Garden (on herbalism).
